You heard it from friends. You heard about it on T.V. You read about it online. Becoming ‘Plant-Based’ (or ‘Vegan’) is no longer fringe... but ‘how can you live without meat and leather’? How can you ‘manage without it’ when it is in so many things – even some biscuits and bread? What about those ‘cravings’ for a chunk of flesh? Well, those cravings are not an addiction; and so many options exist, Plant-Based. Thinking otherwise is just in your mind, implanted from the media or peers.
Observe the mentality of those who choose to kill and consume animals. Look at the physical effects, with people being advised by Health-care Professionals to ‘cut down on Burgers and red meat’ because of the effects they have on their arteries. Remember the many concerns on the environment, and the so-called ‘Livestock’ farming methods.
Begin a more cruelty-free journey. Choose to support the world’s future. That support is just about owning responsibility for your decisions, without being judmental. To begin with, you may find that it was a ‘big decision’ to choose your more cruelty-free path. Friends and acquaintances may look at you with a bewildered stare, and always ask you their bewildered questions. The truth for many beginners may be that they are simply making a lifestyle choice, or they realise things with new awareness and understanding. You are no longer just following advertisements and feeling peer-group pressure to be accepted by meat-eating friends. You are being a free individual, making your own choices and experiencing growth.
You have become concerned about the Environment, and the negative Carbon Footprint that Farming propagates. They provide atrocious living conditions for so called ‘Livestock’, and even worse ‘dying conditions’ in their Slaughter-Houses. The European Government has just repealed the rule to not feed vegetarian animals any animal remains, and so farmers can again feed them ‘PAP’ Processed Animal Protein! They previously accepted that PAP cannibalism caused ‘BSE’ (Mad Cow Disease). Consuming BSE meat by humans causes the version of the disease ‘Creutzfeldt-Jacob’ known as ‘CJD’ (a type of pre-senile Dementia, and a killer). There are plenty of chemical additives in meat and dairy too, including growth Hormones that cause cancers.
You are not naturally ‘Carnivorous’. If you were a Carnivore you would need protruding jaws like ‘werewolves’ and would have developed proper fangs – not canine teeth - to clamp live prey in your jowls. It is not necessary to pay for expensive processed ‘Vegan Options’. You can have plenty of protein and calcium in some tasty vegetable dish also containing things like pulses and lentils cheaply enough. Consider getting a good choice of vegetables, which taste even nicer when roasted and freshly harvested. You can easily make or buy a selection of plant-based cheeses, and on plain vegan yoghurts add your favourite nuts or berries, for that personal choice. Vegans are becoming increasingly main-stream now in Society. You can be ‘as strong as an Ox’ eating Plant-based food. Bulls, and Elephants are Vegan. There is even vegan choc-ice on a stick, these days. The options are endless…
Your other friends will do anything to convert you back… Remember; ‘When one door closes, another one opens’. Do not try to justify yourself to them. They will ask you ‘Why?’ as a trick question only to then accuse you of ‘lecturing’ them, say to you to ‘not be so silly’, and to ‘come and have some real food’. So when they inevitably ask you ‘Why?’ you can simply say three words: ‘All the reasons’. No need to elaborate.
